We are delighted to announce that our annual celebration of photography -  The
Photographers 2012 [http://www.chrisbeetlesfinephotographs.com] – is now available
to view online in advance of it opening at the gallery on 16 October.

We will being showing 102 rare and collectable photographs by 37 master
photographers, in a museum-quality survey of the history of photography.

A fully illustrated, 117 page catalogue with biographies and notes is also now
available from the gallery for £10 plus P&P.

Our annual Photographers exhibition is the highlight of our calendar here at the
gallery, and this year we will be offering for sale a broad range of pieces, from
rare and unseen Victorian prints by the early photographers, to photographic
masterpieces by Cecil Beaton and Irving Penn.

One of the highlights of this year's show is The Ford Hill Collection – 14
incredibly rare photographs from the collection of Ford Hill, an American pianist
and music professor. Over the past 40 years Hill has gathered the most extraordinary
collection of photographs of Queen Elizabeth II by the great photographers of the
last 50 years including Yousuf Karsh, Dorothy Wilding and Cecil Beaton. They are
large, signed, old prints in excellent condition, and are utterly unique on the
market. In 2010 Ford Hill donated 256 prints from his collection to the National
Portrait Gallery in London, as he had surpassed even their holding of photographs of
the Queen. The 14 pictures in our show are the ones that the NPG already had, and
thus are the most important prints in the collection.
